You can bike or walk in this event. See below...
Join us as we celebrate the summer solstice with a 10-mile sunset bike ride through all four legs of Freedom Park. We will be following a modified version of the bike route that we designed for our July 4 Freedom Park Bike & Hike. The sun sets at 8:41PM that day and our goal is to be on top of the Jackson Street bridge by that time so we can watch the sun set over the Atlanta skyline.
If you don't have a bike or don't want to do the ride, you can still partake in this event. You could meet us at VSB and then walk to the Jackson Street bridge for the sunset. Or, you could just do your own beer / wine stroll down the Beltline and meet us at Across the Street.
GETTING THERE / ROUTE MAP
On the summer solstice, we enjoy the most daylight of the calendar year. The Sun reaches its most northern point in the sky at local noon. After this date, the days start getting “shorter,” i.e., the length of daylight starts to decrease. In 2017, the summer solstice will occur on June 21 at 12:24am.
